My wife and I will be going to Cedar Point Ohio in July, and while we're there we're considering going out for a day of walleye fishing. Most of the charters I've seen run about 500 dollars, but we really don't want to spend that much for the two of us. Are there any guides that would be a little less than that? Thanks.

Most of the charters are 6 packs but besides the guys mentioned there are a few others that specialize in smaller groups if you look enough. If that still seems too expensive there is another option but it isn't even close to a sure thing by any means. Sometimes the six pack boats to go out to find or stay on fish on days they don't have a trip booked and will take walk-ons. If you are willing to be "crew" , have a clue and can catch on fast - an extra licensed person is two more rods to fish, someone to reel in fish, and some help with gas money. Obviously, this only happens if you make it happen. Have a list of numbers for Captains in different Marinas and start calling a couple of days before you can fish. If the 1st guy doesn't want you he might know someone who will.

A friend does a whole family reunion cottage deal for a week each summer in the same area & treats himself to a "charter" day this way every yr but he has a 6 day window that he is available. Cost per person is about 1/6 their usual rate. Probably not gonna happen on a weekend.

July, I'd lean towards operations around Huron, Vermillion, and Lorain. Good chance for Steelhead (w/eyes mixed in) or just eyes that time of yr in that area. Anyone that hasn't caught open water steelhead should.

Good Luck
