Lowrance 5300C and CI ?

Trying to get a GPS also on the bow of the boat along with the 510C I have, and I was looking at the 5300 unit, I can run cable from the GPS puck up to it or just use the 5300CI unit with the built in anntenna.
The built in anntenna model would be easier, just wondering how reception is compared to the external model?

I'd put a combo unit up there, but they are just to much money right now for me.

I fish mostly Minn if that makes any difference.

The external will work OK with a clear view of the sky. If you need to
mount it with the screen up, get an external antenna model.
An Ethernet cable between the 510 and the 5300 will make the 5300
a sonar also.

It'll prob mount with the screen at a 45 degree angle to vertical.
Can you find a adapter to wye the power lead to the 510 to supply power to the 5300 too?
