Been spending a lot of time in the dark lately... My wife would probably say I am always in the dark!!! Just wondering what colors you all prefer for night fishing? I have had my best luck thus far on gold/black back this year, but in the past had good luck on clown and firetiger...

I have used glow crawler harnesses with success. I've read that renosky makes a deep and shallow diving crankbait that is a fire glow lure. Check out cabelas for glow paint.

Clown has always been a good producer for me. Other times, when there's some good starlight or a little moonlight I'll take chrome or a similar holographic finish - something putting off a good enough flash that you barely see it in the water boat side at night. Then sometimes they want sticks and other times cranks...

Black/white, I find a high contrasting pattern is often best at night. Be it Yellow and white, pink and blue, you name it, even all black is often good as it is a contrast in itself to it's surrounding environment.
I strongly feel contrast is key, then fine tune the colors to meet prevailing light conditions and clarity.

I agree, growing up that was my dad's mantra. Dark=darl lure and light=light lure... What about retrieves? Anything that works better for you guys. I have kinda been doing better on a steady retrieve than an "herky jerky" retrieve.

ELECTRIC CHICKEN... 4" STICK-TYPE HARD BAIT... Cast accross a shallow rocky flat with a strong current running... use a steady retrieve... WORKS LIKE MAGIC!!!

Gander Mountain has a couple of colors that Rapala does exclucive for them on #5 Shad Raps. One is a glo Blue and a glo Green - both have worked well for Me, plus Purple Sunfire does well after dark also. C-man
