Just saw an article that Merc has a new 350hp engine. Man, that thing has got to fly.

I tried to get a couple of motors out of Merc's Racing Division last Summer. The first was an Optimax 300XS for a Tundra. And then when that wasn't working I went looking for a Verado 350SCi for a Warrior. Major PITA. Even the well known pro I had helping me was having problems with procurement. But man if you could get your hands on either motor...

I have to guess the cost will be sky high, but, man what a motor. I'm guessing it will push the average bass boat over 100. In time, they will be available to the public.

They require 93 octane which could be hard to find in some places.

I saw one of those on e-bay several months ago man what a monster. Vertical V8 and in the picture it was taller than the guy standing next to it. I can't imagine what it's like on the water other than fly and hope there isn't any immediate chop.

Actually, the 350 Merc is the same inline 6 as the other Verado's. The 350 Yamaha is a V8.

Wow, I didn't realize the marine industry had moved past 300. I checked out the weights of these monsters just for fun. Of course they don't publish torque curves, but I'd take the supercharged Verado's 681 lbs over the Yamaha V8's 804 lbs.
804 lbs!! That weighs as much as my 16' Lund! The transoms on these center console salt water boats must be very strong.

The Yamaha F350 gets considerably better gas mileage than the F300 as well. Go figure.
I forgot how much those engines weigh. Makes me not feel so bad about my 604lb Suzuki 300.
