I have a 2005 Starcraft Futura, Starcraft recommends the 25" long shaft if purchasing a kicker for this boat. I primarily troll for walleye's, with some musky and salmon fishing thrown in on the St Mary's river and Lake Superior. What features or aspects make one better than the other???
Any help or guidance would be greatly appriciated as these aren't cheap...

I fish with both frequently, and can't honestly say that I prefer one over the other. Both are excellent trolling motors.

My first choice would be to match the main motor. If you don't have a Yammy or Merc for your main power, flip a coin. You'll be happy with either.

I have had 3 T-8's so far and have had great luck with all of them! Not a single problem at all. I know I have heard of problems with the pro kicker and some T-8's being cold blooded, but I have never had that problem at all. Like previously stated, match to your main motor if that is an issue. I run an etec, so it didn't matter for me. I went with what I had experience with before.

Good advise so far. I have not ran the merc. but my T-8 has been bullet proof. It starts on the first try every time. As a matter of fact it was 28 degrees (air temp) yesterday morning when I fired it up on Lake Michigan and it purred like a kitten.

I have had a couple of each. (More T-8s actually).
They are both great kickers.
I do think the T-8 has a bit more low speed thrust, however.
