hey all....
wow what a day...
First off I would like to thanks all who attended....and made the day a special one for sure....
we had 42 people come out and brave the weather....lol and it wasnt your typical winter day....at about 15 C for the high and bright and sunny....we really couldnt have ask for more on the good weather side of things...
the ice had held up quite nicely all morning and was getting soft on top as the day progressed...
we drilled a test hole for the augersports competition....and found 17"....
we kicked off the day with Augersports,,,,and though the sign up was limited....we managed to do 4" and 6" hand augers and 8" and 10" power augers plus we had 2 chisel competitors...
here are the results from the hand augers...
in the 4" category Tai won with a time of 12.53seconds
in the 6" category Sparkie 8.65 seconds and close behind was Sauce at 9.5seconds...and screwbs in third...
at the 8" power augers we did 3 holes each person
ratherbe placed first with a time of 27.01 seconds... Lgunn a close second at 28.03seconds and sparkie 3rd at 29.44 seconds
at the 10" power augers... we also did 3 holes each....
Travis took first with a 32.60 second time followed by me(Auger) with a 33.82 seconds and Hotdave in third at 38.69 seconds..
for the chisel competition....we had only Hotdave sign up....Since alot of us older guys...thought Hmmm 17" ice and a chisel. ahhh not ..so at the last minute I thought I would give it a try.....so Hotdave would have to work at it at least....
trust me all the hole chiseling he does each winter paid off for dave....he is an expert... He secured first place with a
1min and 7.56second time and I didnt complete.my hole.......but the postive note for me was I didnt need 911 assistance afterwards...lol

we finished up at 8:30 am.....and moved on to the tourney and food part of the day....
the fisher people were ready to go and off things went....
the bite started early.....with the Kawartha Anglers taking the early lead,,, with Lgunn and Tai hitting the board early.....
the lead changed hads a few time thru the day with the New age Anglers.... guys hitting their stride... with get hooked and travis putting fish on the board....
for F.O. we hotdave and shawn both made the leader board and for Kawartha Anglers Lily and Dana Both showed up to compete...
at one point we had a tie for first ....a tie for second and a tie for third going on...
the fish trickled in thru the day but by mid afternoon.....one of shawn's guests....Al W. fishing for F.O. managed to put the eventual winner on the ice....2.1lbs white fish....

F.O. managed to hold on to the bragging rites again this year....with the help of a members guest....whew.....
and K.A. and N.A.A. were very close.....and did well attemping to dethrone F.O.
we had the only members in the under 12 division so that was a fix for F.O.
another board that was represented was Fish Hawk.....from Ottawa area....Tinman and Matt fished hard all day....
the food portion... kicked into high gear around 11am....
with conteau creeks award winning chilli... being gobbled up quickly...
butcher... our official chef,,,,for the interboard challenge.....was a busy guy....with all the exotic meats and wild game....
that Big Mac had brought along.from Black Aungus ..like kangaroo kabobs and wild boar meatballs...... plus tons of other stuff like burgers dogs chicken kabobs...fresh walleye fillets from Matt, Buns donate by ratherbe and some others...
of course we had laker 272 doing fries....hot and crisp on ice.....french fries....a big hit as usual..
Blueice teamed up with greybear and provided coffee cakes pies and a pile of other baked goods...
sparkie also was in dessert mode with brownies and bars...for eveyone...
I know I have forgotten some... since there was enough to feed a small army....
but thanks to all who donated food condiments plates drinks etc....
I could have sworn the ice was sinking under the weight of all the food...
at the end of the day we gathered once again for the trophy to be handed out and the keeper plaques...
the cash prizes and the draws from the prize tables.....
