Hi,
I bought Lowrance LMS 525 and LMS520 and they are now networked and Ethernet connected.
How can I transfer all my old waypoints from my Garmin ETrex Legend to the new units?
Would appreciate if someone can give me a ling or a step by step procedure to follow.
Thank you!
Cheers,

I'm not familiar with your Garmin product, but you will need to convert Garmin's data format into the Lowrance USR format before loading the info into your Lowrance units.
There's lots of software out there to do this, one of the simplest to use is Easy GPS. http://www.easygps.com/
Save the Garmin data to a card, load it into your home computer and use Easy GPS to convert to Lowrance USR. Then save that file to your card and load it into your Lowrance units.

when I needed to switch waypoints from a Garmin unit to lowrance I used the nmea 0183 function to transfer from unit to unit.

I'm wondering if anyone here can help...
I have an older, yellow, basic etrex (3,actually) and one has a bad screen. I vaguely remember there being a bunch of waypoints from a couple lakes where I spent a lot of time scouting prior to Lakemaster doing an almost-fantastic job mapping.
I'd like to download those waypoints. Maybe transfer them to another etrex, maybe - if possible - transfer them to one of my Lowrance units. I'd like to toss the broken etrex but not before I somehow save those waypoints.... I have an older (data?) cable from Garmin that fits the etrex on one side but doesn't fit our desktop pc on the other. It DOES fit a port on my daughters older laptop
I guess I need a 'usb to serial adapter' to use the desktop pc but - to give an example of my limited knowledge,I don't know which is usb and which is serial. At least I know what "adapter" means
I do have a wife that'll help if I'm nice to her,and a 12 year old daughter that doesn't need me to be on my best behaviour to be helpfull.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've done some lookin' online but when it starts getting technical I get lost.
Thanks.

Seeing as you do not seem too technically inclined (no offense intended).
As said above - EasyGps will let you download them. I would not bother buying a serial - usb converter. There usually is some issues getting then to work. I have a couple, but even for me sometimes they don't always work.
Load EasyGps on your daughter's and use it.
Drop me a PM - If you want, you could send it to me, I'll download and convert to Lowrance format and email the file back. . I do not have any Lowrance to test it though.
Playing with maps/Gps is a weird hobby of mine :) I've had several starting WAY back and have moved waypoints many times.
