Somewhere I saw jig heads that were flat that allowed a person to use a lighter weight because the current didn't affect them as much. Anyone know what they are called or who makes them, I looked at basspro and cabelas and couldn't find them.

Try the Knuckle Ball Zonar jig by Fin Tech. Flat sides to cut current and a stand up design that keeps it horizontal when vert. jigging.

Great Jigs!!!

I think you can get a jig mold through dewitt and pour your own. My Dad must have poured 50lbs. of those jigs size ranging from quarter oz. to one oz. Been using what he poured for years now.

My favorite color is lead so I took a hammer to a bunch of mine and flattened them out pretty severely... with a tender hand of course.
The ones that work best have a little "flange" left on the bottom for extra balance... kind of like a stand up jig.
It sure helped and since it only cost me the beer I drank while doing it, I think it was a pretty good deal.

I just paint them after the hammer job

Take a look at a jig called the Swarming Hornet, it has a very flat profile and is very current friendly. It also offers a flash blade on the bottom of the jig.

Another current friendly jig that is not flat but does the job very well is the Al Patterson's Reel Baits flasher jigs. I consider the Reel Baits jigs an ideal river jig for a wider range of fishing conditions and presentations.

Look at Cyclops lures. He makes alot of hair jigs uses here on Erie. Nornally people use the heavier ones for Erie but he does make smaller sizes if you want. Check out his web and send him an e mail. www.cyclops-lures.com

Wild,
Take a bucket of your round head jigs and go to the garage.
Take your bench vise, and squeeze the sides in until they are thin enough for you.
Go fishing.

Take care

Don't forget the beer ...
You can get creative and make some of them stand up / glyder style with this method.
