Looking for info on copper line. Will it work with stainless steel rod guides. After prolonged use in trolling will copper line put indentations or wear marks in a stainless steel rod tip.Has anyone used a rod with stainless steel guides and copper line. Also anyone used copper line on inline boards.

The guys that fish for salmon have been using copper for a long time and they recommend nothing special for guides, the copper itself is very soft and it will not hurt the guides. On my setup I have rods with rollers on them but that’s because if I want to run my wire setups I just switch reels and then I don’t need to carry another six rods in the boat. Paul

Your ss guides will be fine with copper. The copper, as paul stated, is very soft and will be damaged by guides before it would ever damage a guide itself. It is very common to use copper behind boards. Just make sure you attach the board to your backing not the copper itself. It is soft and will be damaged by the releases. If you have never used it be careful letting it out do not let it overrun the spool (backlash) it can get real ugly real quick. It pulls fish but it is also a PITA. Unless fishing depths over say 60 ft I would suggest leadcore. It is easier to run and serves basically the same purpose just takes longer leads to get to the same dpths as the copper.

Uncle Paul PaPascott I appreciate the reply on copper. I have been using leadcore for years with great success. Only problem i am a senior and on some days i thought my arms were going to fall off from cranking. I have used up to 10 colors. I am going to try copper this year. Less line out in copper equals less reel cranking. Reason i asked about the S/S guides is i have two new rods and did not want to ruin them. Both of you have answered my questions and for that i thank you both. spoondog47.
