When I bought my boat the previous owner showed me the screws that came out of the gunnel on both sides of the shield. he said it was a problem that ranger is aware of and said it was a bad design. Has anyone ever heard of this and how have you fixed it? thanks in advance
The walkthrough windshield should be "thru-bolted". Just using the screws isn't the best way to do it...they will eventually fail.
Ranger uses small bolts now. You could try calling them to see if you can get some for your windshield. I believe there are 8 holding the window on, but don't quote me.
To install them, just take the rubber stripping out and remove the screws and replace with the bolts....then replace the rubber strip again.
It's a two man job, but an easy one.... One person on top with the drill and one underneath the dash with the cresent wrench holding the nut to tighten it down.
