Trolling motor will not turn to the left. I have tried everything except to get it to turn in autopilot mode. Motor is two years old and used. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Already tried a different foot pedal.

First place I would look is to see if something is under the steering piece that you step on. I have had a twig get in there and make it so that the switch couldn't make contact. The next place to look is the plug from the foot control to the motor. If the contacts in there don't "connect", you will have problems. The pins in there are split and can be spread apart (VERY GENTLY) to make better contact. I repeat - very gently. Hopefully one of these is the problem. Most likely the problem is in the foot control. You might try to borrow a foot control from a friend. Try it and you can start to isolate the trouble.

Good luck,

Call Minn Kota after you check above mentioned and make sure your batteries are new and in good shape. When the batteries don't perform correctly the MK does weird stuff like not turning or spinning in circles etc... MK# 1-800-227-6433 When I sent mine in a couple years ago they had about a 1 week turnaround

There is a good chance that the problem is in the foot pedal. If you are mechanicaly inclined. Take a pair of needle nose plyers, turn the pedal over, you will see two springs that hold the top of the footpedal on remove the springs and lift the top off, dismantle what you can and give the surface of the circuit board a good cleaning, sometimes I spray it with electrical contact cleaner. Re assemble it and try it. Otherwise I would say another possibility would be a worn connector plug. If you know someone with a footpedal the same, swap it out and try it.

If it still doesn't work after cleaning plugs/contacts ect, I'd have a service rep check the main wiring harness. Had to replace this after 3rd year for the Exact same reason. On the positive side it was warranty. ( thank you Minn Kota !)

I have a buddy who has a Minnkota motor (sorry - don't know the model) that will not turn when you try and use the foot pedal. Stays striaght, will not turn at all. He says everything works fine, but will not turn.
Shall I check the pedal as suggested for debris? Clean the unit and connector pins as mentioned too? - Thanks

I had the same problem-replaced the foot pedal and all is well.

I think getting it to turn that way with the autopilot would tell you where the problem is. You ruled out the pedal by trying another; if the motor will turn that way with the AP, then it's not the circuit board; all that should leave is the pins/sockets at the plug, or the wire between the plug and the board. If it doesn't turn with the AP, then it's probably the board or a broken wire inside somewhere.
