Was traveling a great deal throughout western Minnesota today. A couple of small sloughs that were flooded over had some open water. All the lakes, however, were still iced over and it was hard to tell ice conditions as they were covered in a fresh blanket of nice white snow! The result of our most recent blizzard. Is it just me or does it seem like the last few years we've had an unusual number of late winter, early spring blizzards? Anyway, I'm itching for open water and it doesn't appear to be getting much closer!

Sounds like we have another big snowstorm moving in for the weekend here in Iowa.
I was up by Big Spirit Lake (NW Iowa) last Sunday and there were a couple boats on the water.
I have watched so many fishing shows and read so many fishing books and magizines this winter, :cookoo:so I’m itching to get out on the water also.

I am afraid this new dump of snow is going to prolong the ice out, by insulating the ice, the good news is that when the snow melts it should raise the creeks and rivers flowing in to the lakes, that will help.

Am thinking about going to Lake Travis or big stone lake on the South Dakota--minn. Boarder opener. any body down their know what ice conditions are down there???
