I am wondering if there is any concern running a carb motor versus a efi. I am looking at buying a boat with a Honda 90 carb 4 stroke. Are these a good motor and what kind of extra maintenance will be expected to run motor at top of its ability. Are these a good motor to buy. Thank you for your input.

I have the 1997 version of that motor. Just don't over-choke it on the first start of the day. Those four little carbs take forever to clear out once flooded.

I OWNED A 2000 BF90 HONDA FOR 1000 HOURS OF SERVICE. TOTALLY WHORSHIPPED THE MOTOR! FAULTLESS RELIABILITY ON "LAKE OF THE WOODS". GOOD MOTOR, HOWEVER I GOT TALKED INTO TRADING THE CARBURATED 2000 FOR A 2007 HONDA BF90 "V-TECH". THE "V-TECH" HAS THE TECHNOLOGY USED BY HONDA'S LARGER HORSEPOWERS. AND I CAN TRUTHFULLY STATE THAT IT IS TWICE THE MOTOR THAT MY 2000 CARBURATED WAS!!

I USED BOTH 90's ON A "LUND 1800 PRO-V TILLER" WITH A 15" SS PROP. HOLE SHOT WAS GREATLY IMPROVED, FUEL CONSUMPTION IMPROVED, TOP END SPEED INCREASED AND JUST OVERALL PERFORMANCE HAS REALLY IMPRESSED ME. THE CARBURATED IS AN OUTSTANDING AND REALIABLE MOTOR, BUT WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO LOOK INTO THE "V-TECH" MODEL.
THE 90HP "V-TECH" MODEL WILL RETAIL FOR APPROX. $10,000.
