Going to put an onboard charger on my 1800 Pro V with a 150 Opti for my 24 volt electric trolling motor. I'm trying to decide between a 2 or 3 bank, can you please help me decide. The Opti has a 60 amp alt. will that charge the starting battery enough. What is everybody else using. Thank you

I would recommend and I have a two bank charger for my trolling motor batteries and a single bank for the engine battery. My engine battery is also a deep cycle battery which I use to run all my electronics.
There is no common ground on my boat, Starcraft Pro Elite 2000, so if
one of my chargers dies, which they have,I always have a back up. I also carry jumper cables for emergencies or to connect batteries to the working charger if one dies.
This is especially good if you are away from home, like vacation.
Thanks,
Randy

It depends on what you have hooked to your starting battery. I have one sonar on the starting battery and went with a 3 bank 4 years ago. The starter circuit is never used. As soon as I turn on the charger that bank goes off. The starter battery is always full from the outboard.

What do you mean "the starter circuit is never used" and " that bank goes off " what bank?
Thanks,
Randy

Mt,
You may wish to consider going to the 3-bank for winter convenience if you're not using your main motor and want to make sure your battery stays charged & doesn't freeze?

Go with three. You will never be sorry for going 3. If you go 2 bank, sure as heck, sometime down the line, you'll wish you had the 3rd bank.
Go with both! A 2 banker for your 2 bow mount batteries and a 3 banker for your 2 transom mount batteries and your starting battery.
Thats how I have my 1800 set up.
