Out of boredom this weekend, I tried a tip that I read about somewhere ( can't remember where ), but it worked like a champ..I had a Quantum E-7 that I'd set aside because it had an occassional rough spot when reeling. I tore it down and cleaned it out with solvent, also found a few small metal shavings. I then filled the gear case with Soft-Scrub, closed it up and cranked it for a few minutes. Cleaned it all out, re-lubed it, and Wow..what a difference. This probably won't help an old reel with worn gears, but it sure works great on a new one. Good Fishing, Sluggo
