View Full Version : Planer board rod and lead core rod. Which action?
I'm looking at a couple of BPS bionic blade rods for pulling boards in the 7'6" tele. I'm wondering if I should get the med. action 8-17lb. or the MH 10-25Lb. They also make a heavy action in a 12-30lb. which I was going to get for lead core. Suggestions please? Thanks in advance.

Planer boards pull hard when in the waves . (Do you fish often when the water is flat?)
The crew of the Water Dog finds that pool cue rods are not the best for lead core planer board applications .
Our advise is 8.6 FT medium to medium light action rod are best for a lot of reasons .

I try to keep the line I'm using at or near the center of the line rating for the rod in question. So I'd use the Med Light for both boards and lead core. The softer tip will allow you to learn to read the rods much quicker and easier.
The exception to this is Dipsys. Which are kinda in a seperate league all together.
Good luck.
