I recently bought a Lakemaster card, trouble is I have two gps units on my boat, so the big question is, is it alright to make a copy of this card or do I have to buy another one? I dont want to get into copyright laws or any of that B. S. I also dont want to step on Lakemaster, great, great product, but!!!!!! I also dont want to have to pony up another hunderd bucks if I dont have to. Anybody ever copy one of these, and how do you do it. I looked on the paper work that came with the chip and it kinda said that you could make one copy( I'm no attorney) so I have trouble reading between the lines. Thanks Coon Dog

You can copy the map data to your computer as a back-up. The only way that back-up data is usable though is if it's loaded back onto the original card. If you try to copy it to an extra card or a different card it won't work. LakeMaster does that to prevent illegal copies of their cards of course. If for some reason you lose the data on your card, but still have the card and a back-up file, you can reload the data to the original card and still use it. But if you lose the original card your backup is worthless. Hope that makes sense.
