I am looking into purchasing a Bow Buddy for rock protection for my boat from recommendations her on WC. Cabelas Bow Buddy is $229. The Bow Buddy on the bowbuddy.com web site is $405. They both say they are made from Aluminum and Stainless Steel. They look very similar but obviously are not. What gives? Are they different sizes or material? Which one should I go with?

I would make one yourself, I have one and they don't protect your boat all that well, also the bracket that mounts to the tongue is not heavy enough it tends to bend. They don't wrap around the boat enough. I removed mine and put running boards all around on my trailer, then had mounted a rail that I bolted to the running boards, which went all the way back to the driver/passanger seat and covered this with the mesh. It follows the profile of the boat and works fantastic, I havn't pick-up a rock chip since, and every body of water I fish, I have to travel down gravel roads.
The price on the www.bowbuddy.com looks to be in Canadian funds since they are located in Canada. With the exchange rate the price will be lower.

Gatekeeper,
I am having a hard time visualizing the running boards you are describing. Can you expand on your explanation. Thanks
