Hi Bob,

Enjoy your show, especially those featuring local lakes. We used to fish that area, mainly French Lake up in Faribault quite a bit years ago for Bass and panfish but it tailed off into more of a Muskie and Walleye fishery. Overall, it seems like the lakes in that area run in cycles. Any recent information based on your recent trips as to which lakes are on the upswing?

Thanks,
Jeff

I hear different reports. So much depends on when you're there. I'm not sure if it's Cannon Lake or the Cannon River or if they're the same thing, but I've heard the walleyes there can be really good.

Same thing with French and Roberds. Get on the right spot at the right time and action can be very good for walleyes, crappies, or bass.

I think the area is transitioning more into a LM bass fishery, also some very nice pike opportunities. When we were there we caught pike in the 28-32 inch range that were very healthy.

The Faribault area is one of those places that you go to catch fish. You may have to adjust and switch from walleyes to bass, bass to panfish, or whatever. There will usually be something willing to stretch your string.

Also, be willing to move around to different. Give a lake a half a day, then move to another one. You'll find a lake that has fish biting if you do so.

Thanks for watching Fishing the Midwest.
