I'm thinking of getting a navionics card for my LCX38c HD and have a two fold question for anyone who cares to reply. First, since the plotter has Lakemaster maps in it already, will the Navionics give better detail and accuracy? I fish Kabetogama twice a year, and know that a survey was done there couple years ago, contours to 1 foot now. With that in mind and since I really only fish that lake, would I get any benefit from spending $40 on the difference between the 2008 and 2009 editions?

For starters, your 38c HD does not have LakeMaster maps in it. They are Lowrance maps, maybe Fishing Hot Spots, but not LakeMaster. You should be able to pan over and zoom in to the lakes you fish, to see how detailed and accurate you think the built-in map is.

As for Navionics, I think a high definition map of Kabetogema was added in '09, so that would probably make the '09 card worth it over the '08 card.

Or, you may want to consider a LakeMaster chip. Both the Woods/Rainy and the Minnesota 2009 chips-soon to be released-will have Kabetogema and the western end of Namakan in high definiton, 1 ft contours.

Thanks for the correction, and the other info.
