I bought a Pinpoint 7420 a few months back and had it mounted on the bow of my boat this past week. When I picked the boat up the unit had "blotches" all over the screen which didn't go away when I turned the unit on. Needless to say the dealership knows nothing about this and the technician claims I gave him a "bad" unit to begin with. It looks to me like there is condensation on the inside of the unit, but it doesn't seem to want to go away.
Anyone else ever experience this with Pinpoint or other units? Can I just ship it straight back to Pinpoint with a note and wait for the changes like my manual says? I'm a little uneasy about shipping it to Pinpoint without talking to someone first.
Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.

I had a customer in AZ. send one back the other day with that same problem (looks like a lake map zoomed way out) take the unit back to where you bought it and they will exchange it. Matt

In my opinion they do have problems with condensation. My original 7820 had this problem after one weekend of fishing. I sent it in and they said something about bad glass and seals. Two months later the problem returned. This time they sent me a new one. My current unit has the same problem again. I am searching for my paperwork to see if warranty is still good.

I had one that did the same thing a month or so after I bought it, I also thought it was condensation, but I was looking at closely one day and when I pushed on the trim it went away? I took the front trim loose and sanded the trim a bit and the distortin went away. It appears that the case is just not right and causes pressure and distorts it, it has been a year and no problems, so keep that in mind if you take it to get fixed.

I sent mine in for repair Jan 29th. for repairs. It looked like there was moisture under the screen. Well it is March 16th and guess what still not repaired. The said that the circuit board is bad and the part WILL NOT be in until sometime in April. I hope you get better service from them than I have.
