???? lowrance LMS 520 C ????

:deadhorse: I realize that this has been covered before, but I am looking for some reviews on this model. I am looking to mount it to the bow and network it with the GM3500c at the stern. I realize that this is a discontinued model and I am taking a chance that it will be defective and Lowrance won't fix it. I found one for about $500. I am thinking that for a few hundred more I could get a new HDS. Any suggestions that will set me straight would be appreciated.:stick:

There's a $50 rebate on the HDS-5 so you're looking at $150 more than the 520, not $200 more.

Even though the 520 is discontinued Lowrance will still service them for a while, and when they stop servicing them they will probably give you a credit (small credit, not full price) towards a new unit. If you even get to that point.

I don't know if that sets you straight or not, but that's what I got .......

$500 is not that great of a deal on a discontinued model cosidering these were $649 when new.
Do some research on Lowrance. Don`t buy yourself a $500+ headache.
I won`t tell you what to buy but you should research the heck out of what your are going to buy.
I have to work pretty hard for exrtra $$ for my electronics I`m sure everyone else does too.
If you find that Lowrance suits you get it, but there are other brands that you should consider as well.
