Well, I have not heard back from Navionics yet about my issue with the St. Croix river (between Osceola WI and Stillwater, MN) not showing up when I zoom in on that area. Wade from Jolly Ann is working on the issue as well - Thanks, Wade!!!

I was wondering if someone with the '09 North Navionics Premium Chip would take a look at this area of the river on their GPS and see what happens and then report back to me. I do not think it is something I am doing and I have tried it in a Humminbird and Lowarance. What I don't know is if it is just a glitch on my chip.

The area in question is just south of Osceola, WI (just south of the are labeled "Cedar Bend" on the chip. If you zoom in you will see the river north of this area. Scroll down south and see if you have the river outlined all the way down to Stillwater, MN.

I appreciate the continued help from you guys.

I checked out the 09 premium north chip that I have. Yup, missing the same data - no water south of Osceola until you get around the confluence of the Apple river. I checked on both Humminbird and Lowrance.

I have the hotmaps on my iphone, that is also missing the data. Was that section of the river remapped??

Blueroof,

Thanks for the confirmation. It helps to know that I have not been the cause of the problem. I can't believe it had to be THAT stretch of the river.

I will post back when I hear something from Wade and/or Navionics.

TB,
Call Navionics directly and ask when - if - they plan to survey map and integrate that section of river into an electronic map.

Companies are generally very responsive with direct customer requests.

Take care

Do not expect to see one, that area really in my lifetime of fishing it has never been marked and all knowledge is of the area is local or learned by being on it. Most of the mapping stops at the bridge or spirit hole which is up by boom bluff lookout on MN. and from there north up to arcola sand bar is mostly 10-15ft deep with alot of sandbars that chg as the river floods, some islands have actually disappeared do to the flooding awhile ago. Satellite images would be your best bet of those areas. The lakemaster 1 ft HD
map is the most current map and Navionics has incorp that map on their chip. So that shore ouline pretty much ends at Stillwater bridge area. If they ever map it North of there accept it as an act of God.

The issue is not that Navionics has not mapped that region of the river. I agree, there will never, ever be any mapping in that area - fine with me, I like the solitude at the spots found by "trial and error." I have the waypoints on my GPS, but it is nice to have those waypoints plotted on an outline of the river (call me visually impaired if you like). The real issue with the new '09 map chip is that there is NO general outline of the river for the area in question. The '06 data on my humminbird with NVB has this area of the river plotted (obviously with no depth contours). Even my lowrance GPS has the river outlined on its internal map option (no chip). It looks like the '09 chip has a glitch which erases the background river outline. What is on the map are the surrounding ponds and some of the backwater areas of the river. Really, for anyone who knows the Croix it is interesting to see what is and is not on the chip. I am not looking for them to map anything in that area - just assume keep the spots off the map ;-) I would like to see them replace the background river outline so my waypoints are plotted on the water rather than the ground. Maybe it's just my slow mind that needs it that way.

Two Bear,
Thanks for bringing the issue to our attention. That data was inadvertantly left off and we are working on a solution as we speak. Please PM me your info and I will make sure we get you taken care of.

When we get this 'opportunity' taken care of, I will post it here at WC.

Larry,

Thanks for taking notice of this. I did email Navionics directly, but did not hear back from that email. I thought someone might see the post on this site. I also have Wade from JollyAnn Marine looking into this for me. I will PM you my info and we can talk.

Thanks again!

Glad to hear the fix has been done. No pressure, but walleye opener on the St. Croix is May 2nd. I'll be on the water in 251 hours - not that I'm counting or anything....

I would hope they will add more Canadian coverage on the Canada chip.

1 lake in Manitoba... just doesn't cut it. 4 or 5 in Saskatchewan, but at least they are key systems.

Tons in BC and Ontario, but why nothing usable in MB Canada?

The big glaring omission is the Lake Winnipeg system and the Winnipeg and Red River. There are many others too that are overlooked and heavily fished.

They are heavily used areas and host plenty of big walleye events...but no mapping...why? We get tons of requests for the Manitoba region from US anglers and Canadian anglers, so there is a market for the data.
