Is anyone else having problems keeping fish hooked with the VMC reverse-barb hooks that come on the ripsticks. I know that they are very sharp, but when the fish gets to the boat, it sometimes can "roll" out of the hooks. Does anyone replace there trebles on the ripsticks? Just wondered if I was the only one.

I have also noticed a fish loss factor when using those hooks. I like to replace the hooks with Excaliburs.

I think Reef Runners are such great triggering baits that you get marginal hook-ups from fish that wouldn't bite otherwise. The reverse barb hooks can't be beat for those soft biters that with a different style hook, you'd never know you got bit let alone have a hook pop out in the net. Just my opinion, but I'm big fan of Reef Runners.

Someone earlier posted a message about the trout and salmon he was catching in the Great lakes, in addition to walleyes. I asked how the hooks held up on salmon, as I've had them straighten hooks on Rapalas and Shad Raps. I haven't tried it, but I'm tempted to use single hooks on the split-rings. Fish can't get leverage off a single hook. What have you guys tried?

I am also a huge fan of reef runners. The unique wobble they have is deadly, I'm questioning the hook itself, not the bait.
