I have a lund pro v. Some times I would like to keep the water out of the live wells( thinking the of the weight) I do leave the drain plug out when not holding fish so it does empty when running but I would like to know if there is a way of shutting the water out compleatly?

If you know positively that you won't be using it for the day then you could put a expanding rubber boat plug in the intake.

On the spray bar where the water comes out is a valve. Tighten it up and no water. I used the front livewell in my old lund as a cooler.

Thanks for the replys. With every thing open but not turned on the water in the live wells is at the lake level (not full) and drains when you run. I will try shutting the spray bar.
Speedrive I was thinking there was a way to keep them dry untill you needed them. thanks again.

I would think shutting down the spray bar/valve and putting the plug in the drain hole should keep it empty, unless somehow the water is getting in the overflow?

In addition to closing the spray, plug the overflow with a plumbers plug (expanding type). If you do it from the inside you can remove it easily when actually using the livewell.

Actually you want to leave the drain plug in when the boat is in the water. Pull the plug at the launch after loading to drain the water and impress all the other boaters when the fish start banging around in the empty livewell. :) Put the plug back in once the livewell is empty so that you don't forget once you put it in the water next time. Because once you get water in it, you can't really empty it until you take it out of the water again (unless the ProV has a different system than the Fisherman/Tyee boats). Then as Steve said screw in the fitting on the water outlet so that no water comes out.
This is a good way to use the front livewell for ballast as needed in rough water. BTW, the front livewell will never be completely waterproof in rough water as the overflow hole on the hull will take on a bit of water when the water is rough. Hence Opti-Mist's suggestion. Just don't forget to take the plug out of the overflow before using the livewell.... HTH.
