Where do I find how to hook up the monitoring of my engine? I couldn't find it in the book. Maybe someone knows what page in the book it's on. Is this something that I need a dealership to hook up or can I do it with some sort of wiring harness. Thanks

You need the Lowrance Interface Cable for your motor. You connect the cable to your motor and to your NMEA 2000 network and then you can monitor engine functions on your HDS unit.

Ok I found the cable on lowrance's website. But, they list 2 one that is for red networking and one that is blue. How do I know which one I need? The connection on the back of my HDS is gray.

You need to have an NMEA network in your boat, then you can connect the wiring harness to the network.

If you don't have a network in place already and need to build one, and if the engine interface cable is the only thing on your network besides your HDS-7, I think you'll need:
- a backbone cable,
- two terminators,
- a t-connector for your HDS-7,
- a cable to connect your HDS-7 to the t-connector,
- a power node to power the network (comes with the needed t-connector),
- the engine interface cable (comes with the needed t-connector).

Unless you already have a network with blue connectors you would be getting red connectors.

I don't think the engine interface cables will work with NMEA0183???? If they can that would be a lot simpler and cheaper to put in place.
