I was wondering where does the setup of 2 LCX -113-CHD networked to a 520C fit into the generations of Lowrance electronics? How old is it? Thanks a bunch

Those were current units last year, they were discontinued over the winter.

I don't remember exactly when those units came on the market, maybe 4 years ago and were current units for 3 years?????

The HDS-10 is what replaced the LCX-113 and the HDS-5 is what replaced the LMS-520.

Are the 113 and 520 out of date? Not really, lots of guys are still using those units and Lowrance is still servicing those units. If they're working good for you there's no need to get rid of them.

Will the HDS units be an improvement? There's been a lot of debate about that, you'll need to decide for yourself if the new units are a risk or not, and if they're worth the price or not. Lowrance is promoting the built-in broadband sounder, high definition, and Insight Mapping as the biggest new benefits of the HDS series ---- and has also announced that a Side Finder add-on for the HDS units will be available later this year.

Can you upgrade them cheaply? I don't know about cheaply, but there is a market for used 113s and 520s. You're not going to get full price for them but there is a market for them. You can check out the prices on the new HDS units on our website, follow the link below to our listing in the Walleye Central Business Directory. Lowrance is offering a rebate on them too and that info is on our site as well.
