If I am just going to run two units together and not any of the NMEA stuff that deals with the engine gauges etc. do I need all of the T connecters and extra wire that they are showing in this diagram? All I want to do is have the two units synced togther which from my understanding means I only need the ethernet cord that runs between the two units, am I right? I am asking you because I have read alot of positive reviews about your buisness and how you run it. I am going to be ordering an HDS7 and HDS8 basemap. I only need 1 transducer because I have an 80# Terrova with US2 but I need the cable for that. So if you could tell me exactly what I need and how much it will be let me know and I will be getting in touch with you sometime this week. Thanks for your time.

There's 2 ways to connect the units, each way does different things for you.

One is through the ethernet port, all you need for that is the ethernet cable, but the only things you can share over the ethernet connection are things like sonar displays, satellite weather, radar, side imaging after it is available, etc. If you have multiple items that go over the ethernet connection you'll need to add an ethernet hub too. No GPS data goes over the ethernet connection.

The other way to connect them is with NMEA networking, the diagram you linked to is a LowranceNet NMEA 2000 network. For that you need T connectors, terminators, cables, a power node, etc. The NMEA network lets you share gps position and waypoints, lets you connect fuel flow sensors and temperature probes and engine interfaces, lets you share digital data like temperature and water depth, etc.

Just an fyi, you can't share map card data between the units, you need a separate map card in each unit or need to use the unit's base map.

I hope that helps. Get in touch with us when you're ready and we can help you figure out what you'll need and what it will cost. You can follow the link below to get to our contact info. And thanks .....

Hondo,
Thanks for your reply, it was very helpfull. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear but it is what it is. My next question would be, do you have everything I would need to be able to run the 7 on the bow with the US2 Terrova and the 8 on the console with 83/200khz transducer and have them linked together to share gps and sonar info? Thanks again for your reply, I am also a small business owner and like to do business with the "small guy" whenever possible and it also looks like you can save me some money which is always good.

If we don't have the parts we should be able to order them.
