Opening walleye season is up on us. I fish the Iowa Great Lakes N.W. Iowa and parts of Minnesota for my favorite fish, Mr. Marble Eyes. :yum:
So I would like to ask? On the first few weeks of the season what does everyone like to use for bait, and your favorite way to fish (shore, casting, trolling, anchor, drift) for Walleyes?
I know a lot depends on the weather conditions, and but this is just for fun.

I like tradition for opener. A good pack of fish and a nice drift with fatheads or a jig and plastic (both in Iowa). All openers are different so drifting allows you to start out in 20 FOW and end up in 4 or 5 FOW. A guy gets a good idea of the hot depth. My favorite though is casting cranks from dusk to midnight in 2 to 8 feet. After that it's slip bobbers and leeches.
