Having decided that I like my original 27C enough to not want to deal with the new HD models and the fact they haven't been out long enough for much of a track record, I bought another 27C.
Price had a bit to do with it too.. :)
The original one now sits at the drivers console and the new one will be on the bow.
Just wondering if I can connect both together to read off the rear unit and will the Lakemaster Chip in the drivers unit show on the front unit?
Or do I need to just connect to the original GPS puck and use another chip for the bow unit??
I'll run the transducer off the Minnkota Terrova for the bow 27C btw

You can connect them both to the same Gps receiver puck but each unit will need there own chip.

Thanks, I was afraid of that..:)

To further clarify. Networking the two units together allows you to input waypoints in to both units' memory and allows you to share the same GPS antenna and also network any other NMEA 2000 hardware such as surface water temp, fuel consumption and also other engine information.
The addition of the Ethernet cable allows you to share transducers and display the same sonar imagery on both units at the same time.
Unfortunately it will not allow you to share background maps such as Navionics or Lakemaster on both units. I had to pony up and buy 2 identical chip one for each unit.

Thanks Scott, while not at the fuel consumption stage yet, I would like to share the GPS antenna with the other unit, it'd save mounting another antenna and I'd have one for a spare should it ever break.
Although I think I found the wye connector to hook the new unit up to, least if its a gray and red piece of plastic with about 4 or 5 connector ? inputs on it,(original anntena has a short lead hooked to it and another lead heading off to the exsiting 27C) and it of course is in the rear part of the boat, hoping I have enough cable to reach the front and can get it snaked though without to much trouble..:)
Thanks all.

Al,
Note that the cable you now have between the GPS module (LGC-3000) and the X27C is a 120 ohm in-line terminator cable and it will not work when you install the T's to allow hooking up to your second X27C NEMA 2000. You need the non terminated cables, T's and terminators which attach to the T's.
Take a look at LEI Extras. I just ordered the NEMA 2000 parts to hook my 27C to an LMS-522 and needed the following:
M2K-EXP-KIT-RD qty 1
N2K-T-RD qty 1
If you were to put the second LGC-3000 in the network I think you would need another T.
Have others done this and am I right on the second LGC-3000?
Since you are in Minneapolis you might want to stop by FishLectronics on University street for advice, the parts I ordered are back ordered and FishLectronics was out of them due to backorder also.

Thanks, but now I'm confused.
I want to use just one GPS antenna, I'm told I can just run off the tee that's already been installed in the original set up (one LCX27C and GPS antenna).
Are you saying I can't just use the cable that came with the second 27C and connect from the tee to the second unit?

If you're trying to use 1 T-connector to hook up 2 units and 1 gps antenna you won't get it to work. You basically need 1 T-connector for each item on the network (so in your case 3 T-connectors), plus you'll need 2 termintors, plus the cables to connect it all together.
As soon as you go from two items on the network (ie. unit and antenna) to three items (2 units and 1 antenna) the network gets a lot more complex. And if you don't create the network correctly it won't work.
I don't know which cable came with the new LCX-27C but mine came with the 120 ohm terminator cable and it will not work with configurations with more than one node attached to one unit. If the cable is PN (Terminator Cable Part # 127-48 $34.95 - Terminator cable with built-in terminators in the connectors. For one unit and one accessory, this is our cleanest network! (15 ft cable)).
Regular 15' extension cables are PN (N2KEXT-15RD Part # 119-86 $44.95 15' extension cable. For use with LGC-3000 and red NMEA network). This is what you would need.

Did some checking today on running cables.
All for naught, 15' cable wouldn't be long enough to reach from the tee to the bow and somehow a hundred bucks worth of cables just doesn't see worth it, I mounted the second GPS antenna up at the bow and will use both antenna's.
Did discover the power hook up is different than just the 510C that was there, same plug, just more connections.
That took longer than I care to mention..:)
Now to find a used Minn lakemaster chip...
Thanks for the help all.
