Folks:

Read in the Brainerd paper that Lindy company is leaving. I am a relative newcomer to the fishing sport, but that seems to be kind of big news as I have heard about that coming for years and always associated it with fishing in Minnesota, etc. Is the fishing industry changing? Is is become more corporate like the rest of the business world?

Thanks

Mark

I read about Lindy's move on a bass website. Some are calling that news shocking, but I guess I am not that surprised. It seems as if the fishing industry has become somewhat "smaller" in the last several years as larger companies have been acquiring more smaller companies. In essence, large companies now have several brands under one parent company. Lindy was one of the smaller companies acquired by a larger one and that big company, apparently, is moving the core operations. I don't see basic problems with bigger companies acquiring smaller ones. What does alarm me, however, is when a very successful company does move/is forced to move its roots and if the parent company starts to forget some of the values that the smaller company based its successes on. It is obviously a trying economic time and I do think that we will see more of this type of movement.

Just my thoughts.
