Hey folks, the Full Throttle tourney on the wolf river this last saturday was a great time. I didn't win so it wasnt the best of tourneys for me. in fact, my boat didn't even get on the board.

From what we were told, there were four other tournaments at the same time as ours on the river, with over 400 boats in the mix. as you can imagine, the bow mount was very important.

dragging jigs tipped with crawlers minnows or leeches was the ticket from what the winnners said.
many boats reported no fish to register and only 140 boats had one or more fish to get on the board for all of the tournaments.

i did take a picture of the leader board but somehow my camera wont let me pull the pictures out. i'll have to work on that one.

second guessing our tactics is what killed us. we started off by the wall just north of Fremont and got a few hits, but not pulling in any eyes over the 14" minimum. we decided to try severral other spots down river to the mouth of Poygan, yet we didn't get anything there either.

all i got was a sunburn on my big bald head and i really hurt right now. there's not enough aloe to soothe the pain of sunburn and no fish.

all in all though, it was a great day on the water. water temp was 51 when we lauched and 53 at three in the afternoon. able to get away with just a t-shirt most of the day.

Full throttle was awesome again. met lots of new people again this year. Very nice. can't wait til the next tourney on Winnebago in 2 months.

till then, good luck and see you there.

Chris,
It sure was a beautiful day for a tournament and good to see you again! As for the sunburn, if you throw a hat on that pumpkin you won't get a sunburn! I'm looking forward to June 6th as well. Early June, week before the Merc, great time for a tournament. What else can a guy ask for? Then again, in your case maybe some fish to weigh on stage would be the ticket! Hehe... Anyone looking for info on the June 6th event please contact Mark D the WI Series Director at 920.858.0558. It should be a great event.

cjones,

Actually i started the day off with a hat. when we were out of a slow no wake area, we took off and my hat blew into the river. about two hours later while we were drifting, my hat came past us down river so then i had a hat again. it smelled a little but atleast i could cover "MY PUMPKIN" again.

It was an outstanding day. couldn't have asked for a better day other than getting something to register.
i was surprised that we didn't have more boats. hope the number goes up for the next outing on 'Bago. don't know why i would want more, i couldn't compete with the few we had.

the guys who sat at our table for the dinner were really nice. i think they took 3rd. as for the sweatshirts, I will bring money for one next time. didn't know they actually existed. they look pretty cool and well made.

Now on winnebago---look out guys, i'm going to fish that lake a lot this summer because i have quite a few tourneys on it so i should atleast have a fish to register. (not promising anything though!!!)

best fishes!!!
