fishing during spawn

I would like to hear any tips on fishing walleye during the spawn. I live in the western US and fish large reservoirs, but have never done any good in April when the fish are spawning. I fish a large western reservoir which is about 15,000 acres where the walleye naturally spawn. It has a good size river running into it, but I think the walleyes may spawn over the entire reservoir. I would like to hear tips and techniques that people may try.

I gave up on targeting the fish while spawning.
Not every fosh in the lake spawns at the same time.
I target the spawned fish .... look for the first humps amd flats adjacent to the spawning areas.
The fish will use these to put on the feed bag to recover from the rigors of the spawn and stage for the summer dispursal.
