In the market for a new jigging rod and am interested in the Loomis sjr 721 IMX or the Bass Pro Shops WX60MLJSH HM-85 6ft Walleye Angler Signiture Series Rod. What would you suggest? Thanks

I know...if I say it, it sounds like a commercial....BUT I use a 6' medium action Wristsaver rod, St. Croix blank, fast tip. Once you've used this rod concept, you will wish you had earlier.

I think that you are right on with the action of the ims 721.
However, if you don't want to pay the price, check out a bunch of the "house" rods, with a similar action and balance.
You might find that you can get a pretty nice jig stick for a bit less money.
The bass pro rod, is one of those. The bass pro - walleye series rods are nice rods. If you get one of those, get the balancing kit to go with it. A balanced rod makes all the difference in the world.
After using lots of different brand rods - it seems that if you get a medium rod with an extra fast tip - or a medium light rod with a fast tip -- and use what ever method is required to get it to balance perfectly - I think that you will be pretty pleased with the rod.
You need a rod with a reasonable amount of back bone - for a good hook set, but you need a soft enough tip, so that you can visually see those very light bites, that sometimes come along.
If, on the other hand, you are using a rip jigging technique, then you can use a heavier rod, that is similar to a 722 rod - i.e. a bit stiffer, and a stiffer tip. With this style jigging, you are ripping, and not waiting to feel if anything is there.
The key is - balance !!
Light weight normally equates to better touch - and I think that this goes back to the same thing - balance. A lighter rod - is inherently easier to be in balance. So, if you go with a less expensive, albiet heavier rod - but get it balanced - I expect that you will have no problem in catching lots of fish.
Take care
