I know I have read some different posts on this subject and that many of you like me, say something to people who we see littering.
I spent most of Saturday wading below the Sauk dam on the Wisconsin River. I was disgusted with the amount of litter and fishing line that was every where. I know not much can be done about this except just to go out and clean it up. So instead of getting mad about it, that is what I am going to do from now. If I go to a place that is trashed and I am going to try to get some people and go clean it up. If I can't get help I will do it on my own. Maybe it will help, maybe it won't, but these are all things that are used by groups who want to ban fishing. The litter, birds and ducks being injured by fishing line are reasons they use for banning or limiting the sport.
Let me know what you think and if anyone would be willing to help out. I figure on just trying to cover small areas at a time and just take a few hours.

I am going to try to get up to Sauk a few times over the next couple of weeks.

Scott, I agree with you 100% and commend you for doing what you can to clean up litter at fishing spots.

I'm pessimistic about the problem getting any better, because the idiots who leave fishing line and other stuff are unconcerned with anything other than themselves and are unlikely to heed any advice to properly dispose of waste materials.

Sad but true.

Yes it should be cleaned up for several reasons. It's not safe for our children, or thr fishermen.

Get some sort of youth group onvolved in the clean up. In return you teach them how to fish. Have a find raiser and purchase some trash containers. Put up some signs(ck w/ city first). Get more people to have pride about the area and then it will hopefully catch on that this is everyones place to have fun and people will hopefully treat it with respect.

Gotta always look to the postive. Negatives dont get us anywhere except mad.
