HA-HA got you to look didn't I? LOL

Seriously though, I was wondering if anyone knows of any source that provides records for individual bodies of water?

Lets face it, a world record or even a state record is probably not going to happen for the most of us. It sure would be nice to see what the record is for each body of water. I think this might be a much more realistic goal for us pig hunters.

What do you think? Is this something that Walleye Central could put together with some help from each area of the country?

Maybe its too big of a hassle, I don't know. What do you think Mr. Golden?

Let's see. 10,000+ lakes in Minnesota and another 10,000 + in Michigan. That's 20,000 lakes to start with. Doesn't that seem to be a little too much to ask? Would you accept catch and release weights too? How do you know the weights and lengths are accurate? We are all fisherman, you know. It would be tough enough just to get the biggest fish each year in each State let alone each lake over a lifetime.

It's a neat idea. I just don't think it is feasible.

i think it would be easy to meet this request. I currently hold the Big walleye record on every walleye impoundment known to man ,woman or child. Let me know what lake you are thinking of...and I will tell you about the monster I caught off the dock in front of the Bud sign.

Good point on Minnesota and Michigan having 10,000 lakes. In WA state there is probably closer to 10! I guess it is a bit much to ask. I don't think you would have to list all 10,000 though. How about the most popular 50 or something like that. If you had several people inquiring about it I think you could get an interesting list going. There are many states that don't have near that many lakes or some that don't even have walleye in them.

Over 14,000 lakes in Wi. But like MN and MI a bunch of those lakes are ponds and what not.

Looking for the biggest, best Walleye water's? Just look on this site, and keep your eye's open.Certain water's put up only the best fish, and no other place come's to mind like Lake Erie. These big fish run up the Detroit River every spring, and you should be there to greet them.Bay of Quinte also, and some small water's put up big un's.How about that small lake in Minnesota,Mille Lacs?? Fish where the big one's are proven to swim. Not just rumor's,but legit catches.Another few lake come's to mind,Greer's Ferry,or DalaHollow,or Cumberland in the South.Peak time's are also a plus to put the best fish in your hand's,hopefully to release her.The summer on the Canadian lake's is another spot to be,I belive, for some trophy's.The Niagra River,or the Lake St.Clair has a few to catch,so why not gas up the old rig and put your best buddie on board and go;then tell us how they're hittin! You don't need to be a Pro;abd just a thought; The Ark was built by amature's and the Titanic was built by Pro's.(That is NOT a nock on Pro's by the way).Anyone can do it.Let's ROLL!

State records are easy enough to come by, they are usually listed in the proclamations. If Game and Fish Depts. are contacted they might even have pictures. If you want to make this seem tough it will be tough. Lots of info at your fingertips if you stop and think a little bit.

Yes state records are easy enough, in fact WC has them on the mainpage. I am going to pursue trying to get some individual water records from my states Fish and Wildlife Dept. Of course they probably don't care in WA State.....those disgusting salmon eating walleyes. They probably only keep records for how many lakes they need to poison off. Just kidding...bad day at work. I need to go fishing, am going tomorrow.

If your looking to get your name in the books try to beat a fly rod line record. Some of the weights are as low as four pounds in some record keeping. I've thought about doing it myself, but don't really see the point. I'd rather just fish. Go for it if it's fun for you though :).

How does the Mcconaughy here in Nebraska rank for consistantly large walleye catches?

Check out http://members.tripod.com/~fishnhunt/ which is devoted entirely to fishing records. Records in all 50 states and numerous other links to fishing records.

Looks like it ranks very high in my book. That is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I wonder how many states keep those records? Very cool and very easy to find out what size of fish are coming out of an individual body of water. Thanks for the link.

Not so much trying to get in the record books as just interested in the catch history of particular waters. Kind of gives me a target to shoot for though, just in case. I think that fly rod record is probably safe from me...I would bet I am all thumbs!
