Went to Fish Cherry Creek Res. today, the bait shop there was closed (at 2:00). I needed a fishing license and some minnows. I remembered seeing night crawlers at Wal-Mart and thought that would be better than nothing. (I did stroll through the pet section and eyed the goldfish at 18 cents each.) The guy at sporting goods asked for my conservation certificate and my driver's license. He would not sell me a fishing permit because my driver's license was only 3 months old (I had renewed it in December) and he needed proof of 6 months residency. I had proof in black and white in front of him. My 2001 fishing license has the same driver's license number. I have been a colorado resident for the last 8 years. He pointed to his list of acceptable proof items ; Tax returns, property tax receipts, several others I can't remember. This guy would not budge. I told him he had just lost a customer and walked out. I am not a troublemaker but I feel I should call the store manager and relay the story. I am in management and would like to know if one of my guys was as incompetant as this guy was. What do you guys think?
