Whats the verdict on the Etrex? good bad or what?
thanks in advance!
No experience with the unit but looked at one last weekend at Gander Mt. Looks to me like you would need a magnifying glass to use it.

Great unit for the guy who doesn't need anything fancy. Extremely easy to use. Does what you need it to do. I'm sure a lot of guys buy more expensive GPS units but don't use all the features anyways, so they'd be better off with the e-trex. Also, if you were to lose it, it's less of hit on the wallet.

I have the Etrex Vista and I love it. I maily bought it for deep woods turkey hunting and it's best features are it's small size, the electronic compass (you don't have to be moving to get a heading), and the button that works almost like a computer mouse. It also have marine navigation aids but I haven't used it on the water yet. Good luck.

Does anyone know what the accuracy would be like on this unit compared to one that is WAAS enabled? Is there a big difference?

The eTrex Vista does have WAAS! Suggest you do a search on the subject as there has been a lot of posting activity recently on GPS,WAAS, etc.

I've received the cheap one as a gift and used it as a back-up during an elk hunt in Idaho last fall. It's functional and easy to use, though lost signal frequently under a thick canopy of trees. I'd imagine it would work flawlessly on the water.
