Lively Livewell

Need help guys. Not real handy and I have a problem with my livewell. The recirc works because I can hear the motor running when I hit it but the fill in both wells does not. Even though these are two switches on my dash is it the same pump for both wells? Why would the recirc work and not the fill. Also how the heck do I get that pump out it is virtually impossible to get at the thing to unscrew it. Thanks!
Your livewell fill and recirc pumps should be seperate units. One is pulling water from the lake(fill pump),one is simply recirculating the water within your wells(recirc). If you can hear the recirc pump running when you throw the switch, that is a good thing. You should however be able to hear the fill pump running as well when you throw it's switch. If you do not hear a pump running, you should trace the wires and check the fuse. I would venture a guess that either near the switch or probably near the battery there is an inline fuse. It may be blown. This is where I would start, if the fuse is ok, then you may have to trace the entire wire and see if there is a break somewhere along the way. If all wiring looks good, maybe try a multimeter to make sure you have power to the pump, last thing will be to purchase and wire in a new fill pump, they can fail over time like any other product. Good luck, I always look forward to the first few spring outings to see what the gremlins broke over the winter. See ya.. RJ in Montana..
