Over the past few weeks, Genetron announced they were " out of units" for 2002. I hollerd, begged and threaten'd to put sugar in Dick's gas tank on his big boat at Lake of the Woods. So.....he finally has agreed to build a few more. They will be ready for shipping in the next two weeks. sonars@juno.com
I thought by your discussion topic, that you were going to talk about something else, like new pickup lines . . . lol

I'm just glad that I ordered my second new unit early this year. Dick told me that he would sell out early. He was right. Now if the water in Charlevoix, MI would clear so that I could bring my boat down and start playing with it!
And I thought you were talking about something else. :D
After you do catch the "RIGHT" one there is something you should know. You will break the "RULES". You are not entitled to look at the "RULE BOOK". You will regret breaking the "RULES".

lol lol I knew I'd get your attention! lol
I had got quite a few inquiries in recent weeks about my using Genetron and I thought this would save me from so MANY answers back.
Now on the "pick up lines" subject ......I gave up on this method long time ago. I now put a 'fishing line' in a fine ladies hand, bat my baby blues and....well.....I catch'em all. Some keepers...some rough fish..... Some big ones....Some in the slot....but I'm still lookin' for one that has the GOLD. Nothing hides from my Genetron forever....

Steve, I don't know if you or anyone will know this answer, but why would a "top on the line" electronics manufactuer that is geared for hard core walleye fisherman sell out in Feb.? Not only sell out but why not produce more if they only take a few weeks to build? Just wondering.-Kevin

I have often wondered the same thing....and I quit asking that question....as long as I have one on the boat. That's why I begged this go 'round. I needed another one for the bowmount eyes.

Steve,
I'm not familiar with this unit. Why is it so great and where can a guy get one. Thanks, Milfish

Hey Milfish,
In answer to your questions: There are three things I can't seem to match with any other unit for my fish hunting. One, is that this video technology allows for better target separation that becomes important when the walleyes' fins are tight on the bottem. Especially under cold water periods, this is key. Two, I can easily see fish at high speeds when searching or just by accident enroute to a pre-determined area.I've been enlightend many times where I never would have suspected the fish to be. And three, I have a choice of the standard 20 degree cone angle but very importantly, when looking for suspended, open water fish, or shallow fish, I can switch to a huge 72 degree cone.
You can ONLY purchase these fish hunting machines direct from Genetron. sonars@juno.com or 701-298-0900
I hope I answered your questions! You can contact me direct if you have more questions or, of course, on the one and only WC board...
Steve,
My timing was just pure luck. My son (whom I tournament fish with) talked me into buying the Genetron instead of the X-15MT to put on my Warrior replacing my LMS350. I called Dick on Saturday and by luck he was there and after a 45 minute discussion, I bit the line. I'm an engineer and don't usually move that quickly without my usual research. This was an exception. I had read most of the threads here and was convinced this is what I was after. Aside from distinquishing fish on the bottom, I'm also sold on the fact that the Genetron only uses the power it needs to find the fish - minimizing the chance of spooking them.
As a note on why they don't build more of the units to satisfy demand ------- I don't think they have to, they're solid enough to survive anyway .... on their own terms.
Thanks for opening the door.
