I'm looking for a control board (the one for the motor, not the one in the upper head unit) for a late 90's vintage Minnkota 42# AutoPilot Model 812. Uncle's all of a sudden won't turn on 75% or more of the time and the shop says it's the board, but they want a couple hundred $$ for a new one and he doesn't want to put that kind on money into a 10+ year old electric.
Anyone got a dead player out there with other issues and would want to sell this board for a reasonable price?

Smitty,
I will take a look, I think I have an old board for an AP.

Call the headquarters and order the part directly. I've done it before and the parts are much less expensive. That board shouldn't be more than 70 bucks.

Replaced my board and pedal two years ago then bought a different boat with a 24v TM. It's sitting in the garage and is for sale. I got my board from MK for $200 and the pedal for $70. Make me an offer!

Big Eyes, he's not really looking for a different trolling motor but just the board. Looks like a couple options listed here that I'll give him.
Mex, you ever find out if you had one lying around?

No problem, just thought I'd help out a WC guy first if possible. If you find it any time by mid week next week just let me know, otherwise I'll point him to the other places suggested.
Thanks again.

It's a 1997 Model 812 PD/AP. I believe the main control board # is 2304025 for the 2001-older models. Seems none of the online sources I've found carry these (Minn Kota no longer makes them), anyone have one laying around? Uncle only occasionally uses his TM so doesn't want to break the bank on a 12 year old unit, but sometimes it's nice to have the electric working.

Thanks Mex, It looks like that is the newer style upper (compass) control board. Thanks for talking the time to check it out.

Do you still have that trolling motor??? If so how long is the shaft??
Anyway, I am also lookin for Control board assembly for my 90-91 Minn Kota Auto Pilot 865 series and was told a 812 series should work.
Thanks

It's usually the relay on the board that goes bad. Unfortunately the entire board has epoxy on it. I also have an 812 sitting in the shop needing the same board. :(

I have one sitting too. When you apply power with the pedal, you can hear a clip from the control board, but no power goes the the motor itself. I wonder if anyone has tried using a rheostat for the motor power itself?

We thought about a "shade tree" fix. In this case if/when you actually get power to the motor everything else (speed, steering, etc) works, so it could be as simple as a toggle switch. It does seem like this is a pretty common issue.
Looks like for my Uncle it's either a new unit or something a bit more creative... I figured it was worth a try to see if anyone had one laying around.
