part time guiding

I've been approached by some people to do some part time guiding for them or would I be better to do it on my own and subcontract out to them. Could someone tell me what I'm getting into and what I'll need to bring to the table and what additional costs I'll generate because of it (ie insurance, upkeep, etc). Any thoughts would be appreciated.
