It must be a great time to be in the ammo business! I cried about needing some Magnum Large Rifle Primers on a gun web site and I'm meeting a guy in the morning to swap some regular Large Rifle Primers for the Magnums. He lives 80 miles away but will be traveling through my home area. I've been to every gunshop in southwest Michgan, even Cabelas in Hammond and Dundee and nobody has primers. A friend of mine just bought a 380 semi-automatic handgun and even the gunshop didn't have any ammo to sell him!!!! I sure hope these shortages free up or I'll have all these guns and no ammo or reloading components to feed them.

Looks like things are freeing up fast. Ammo now readily available online and showing up in stores that have been out for a while. Looks like the recent panic (or marketing scheme) is on its way back down.

I just looked for bulk .45 plinking ammo on-line and I don't see it? Where you looking? It is not in our stores.

I took a look. Very disappointing. The choices are Wolf which is affordable plinking ammo, but is dirty and will not cycle through my .45 without jamming. Then you have Hydrashoks and other premium ammo which is very good home protection ammo, but is too expensive for plinking. 800 - 900$ per 1000. I think that I will wait until they have some American Eagle or Winchester ammo. Quality clean ammo at an affordable price.

I was able to buy a 1000 primer brick of Winchester LRM which I was in great need of, but paid 39.99 for it. Pricey but it will last me a long time. I also picked up two pounds of H4350 at the same time for about two bucks more than I had been paying. That cleaned out the stock of 4350. I had been using CCI primers and IMR powders but since I have not heard anything bad about the Winchester primers and the Hodgedon powder and I was desperate I bought. In fact I had been thinking about trying the Hodgedon powder so now I will. Good luck to all in their search.

I can find rifle rounds OK now. Is anyone having any luck finding pistol rounds like 45 ACP? Every store I go to is sold out. They get new shipments in but they sell them as fast as they come in. I am looking for 45 plinking rounds. Not foreign and not expensive home defense.

Sportdog, reduce your powder charge when first changing to the Winchester primers. They are much hotter than CCI. In fact, CCI are the coolest primer brand, Winchester is the hottest. Winchesters, being designed to ignite their ball powders, are as hot as some "magnum" rifle primers.

I will do that. Thanks for the "heads up". Still no 380 ammo in my area.

Unreal about the .380 ammo. Must be the last one brought back up to speed.
They had a case of it at the local store a few weeks back. They would only sell 1 or 2 boxes to a person. Said they were getting regularly. If you live near St. Paul let me know. I will check on it for you.
