The last I heard Mercury had bought them. That is what a service person told me when he had my motor for repairs.

Mercury owns pinpoint. Not sure when, but if you call the Pinpoint service number it sends you to Mercury.

Pinpoint came out with a newer model and I think gander is done carrying them! I would like to know what gander you are talking about, every one that I go into are sold out!
IT was the GANDER MT. in TRAVERSE CITY THEY ONLY HAD 1 AND IT WAS THE DISPLAY .

So does that mean they will discontinue the pin point brand and come with a new name under Mercury

Motorguide bought Pinpoint. They will do exactly what Rapala did to Strom. It's sad when the big companies take over the good smaller companies then do away with their product altogether.

I have bought three 7520's since Nov 2001, they were marked $499.00 at Gander but when they rang them up they were $399.00. They still have the display model in Traverse City MI, this is with speed temp and transducer. It's in good condition. They will ship to another store if requested to do so.
As far as Pinpoint going out of business I'll beleive it when I see it.
It's a great graph and a great buy at $399.00.
Have not heard of a new model coming out. If someone has any info on it I would appreciate it.
I would like to see the elusive GPS module one of these days. Not sure if I would buy it, just not enough info on it at his time.

The new version is #4. When you power up, it will say version 4 in the lower left hand corner. This is the version that is GPS upgradable.

Al Haas, the service tech guy, who has been with Motor Guide for years, has been servicing Pinpoint for the last 3 yrs. The facts are;, Motor Guide bought Pinpoint a long time ago, and Motor Guide is Owned by Brunswick corp, and has been for many many yrs. Mercury is also owned by Brunswick also and has been since Carl Keikaffer owned Mercury back in the 70's. It use to be Quantum/Motor Guide, which also was owned by Brunswick. Last year, Brunswick sold the Quantum end of it, to Bradley corp, so Motor Guide now falls under Mercury, which is still under Brunswick Corp. Dallas Hodges is the go to guy at Pinpoint/Motor Guide, if you have any questions. And as of today, I have not heard of anybody going out of Business or being broke. That would mean Mercury is Broke, and I don't think so!
Hope this clears this matter up,

Amen Gary, I thought the office furniture world was screwed up! I am waiting to get my Pinpoint on the new boat and would agree it all works out in the end. Sometimes the net causes all of us to jump to conclusions to quick. Thanks for your view on whats going on.

Why wouldn't they be? They sponsor everybody that calls them and sell there products at huge prices to a population of consumers that are on a budget. And maybe people realized that technology doesn't guarantee any fish.
Was at the show today and saw the new GPS feature of the Pinpoint. It has a background map built into it, as well as communicating with the trolling motor and gridding out depth points on your screen. Awesome for finding small humps, points, and inside turns. Its like building your own contour map while your fishing.
