View Full Version : Tackle Bag/Box Recommendations
Looking for a new tackle bag/box. I haven't had a soft side yet but was looking at them. I'm kinda of interested in the Flambeau Tackle Station but I would like to get some opinions regarding this and other manufactures or options.

If you are looking at bait boxes, look these guys up. I'm about to order 2 more hanging crankbait boxes. I admit it, I have a crank addiction.

I have Cabela's largest softsider. It holds a ridiculous amount of tackle. 12 Plano 3700's I think. Very durable. Two year warranty I think. Nice product. Would recomend any size in the series.

Also check out the Bass Pro Shops President 370. It's a soft side with loads of space. Runs about $55 and comes with 5 Plano 3700 boxes. I sure like mine. LOL Fred

Ditto above. My partner and I both use these boxes. I use the 3600 size(large/extra large) and partner uses 3700 size(magnums). These are great systems, well made and versatile. I've used a lot of other boxes and these are my favorites. Good luck

I'm on my second soft-sided bag. The first was a side-loading one, which explains why I'm on my second. (Get a top-loading bag, the side-loading are a pain.) I just got the Plano Guide series which holds five 3700 boxes plus a 3600 in the front pouch and room for "extras" all over the place. I think there are two available, one with and one without a water bottle holder. I got the one without. I don't understand the Sporting Goods world's sudden fascination with water bottle holders. I've seen them sewn into tackle boxes, hunting vests, golf bags, duffle bags, you name it. The entire planet must be a heckuva lot more thirsty than I am.

I have the same bag. I substituted the standard 3700 series boxes for the thin ones. I believe that you go from ~2" to ~1.5", this allows you to squeak one more box in. I never used the full height of the taller compartments anyway. Just food for thought!

I have to agree with GJ. I got a B&B for my birthday and I love it. Have you seen the new 7" high version? My #18 Rapalas and Deep T-Sticks/ReefRunners fit well! I have some work todo to fill it though ;-)

I also have the Cabela's bag in magnum size and it will actually hold 14 plano 3700's- you can put two more in front of the row of twelve. Super bag, well made, and the plastic bottom is a real plus when thing gets sloshy. On my first bag from Cabela's the zipper failed and to their credit they replaced that bag with no hassles nearly two years after I bought it. The new bag is constructed more loosely to put less strain on the zipper- that is why you can add more boxes. Sort of a catch 22 for Cabelas. The only disadvantage I can see with this bag is that once you load it to the top with all your goodies it takes two guys to lift the ##### thing into the boat. Be prepared for fishing partner grumbling- bad back, leaning boat, 4 mph off the top end, etc. Good luck- my experience with these bags has been very good and I strongly recommend them.
I have the same bag, and I agree with the above posts. It's a massive thing, and the only bag I've ever been able to fit all my tackle into, Including 100+ cranks. I also got the one that has reel storage in the bottom, very handy for keeping a few spare reels in. You don't really even notice the extra space.
The only downside is that it does get darn heavy.
