Kenwood makes a couple of decent marine models. I have put one in each of my last two boats and had no problems with them at all. Even the cheapest model seems to be holding up rather well so far. Think I had to give about 99 bucks for it from Crutchfield.

Dealer tried to cheat on my original, didn't put in a "Marine grade" radio. Marine grade have plastic shields and coating on the printed circuit boards. I like my Sony, not too expensive on line.

Does anyone know is there is a marine grade HD receiver/CD players available? If so, any recommendations?

Kenwood and Sony makes several HD receivers/CD players, but I have yet to see on in a HD model.

Thanks.

I second the Sony recommendation. I own a 1700 Explorer that I installed a system in last year and for the money, the Sony works really well. You will find the wiring already in your boat with the slot for the radio and speakers roughed in already.

I just bought a new 2007 Lund 1600 Explorer with the factory Sport Option, a Sony AM/FM/CD Player was included with this package. Seems like a nice stereo from what I can tell so far!

I bought and installed a new JVC last week. I am not proud to say I can't even figure out how to use it without a book. I can adjust the **** out of it but can't change channels! Buy a simple one!

Just a note-if it's out of the weather like mine is a marine grade is questionable. They don't cost much more but there are deals on auto units everywhere. Marine ones have coated boards. Mine is under a hatch so not over exposed to weather and covered when not on the lake. I bought a $200 JVC on closeout at Best Buy for $80 and got an I Pod adaptor-$59-free.(Just can't figure out how to use it. Sounds great when I do though)

This is what I did this spring and I highly recommend. Sony CDX-HS70MW that I picked up on the popular online e-auction site for $120. It does not need a cover (splashproof to IPX-5 standard, UV resistant also). Looks awesome, sounds great, and has all the features I needed. Aux in for MP3, plays MP3 CD's, etc. I paired it with some JBL-MS6200 speakers that also sound really great for $60.

Speaker location was already roughed in on my 1625 Rebel in the rear casting deck. Poke around with a pin about halfway up and near the sides. The aluminum is already cut 90% of the way for 6.5" speakers. Just a couple of tabs that need to be cut with a hacksaw and your hole is cut.
