I am tying spinner rigs using plastic clevises as I beleive they are more forgiving on leaders.
My question is: do metal clevises allow spinners to work better at lower speeds? Help me out guys, Thanks a million.

I usually tie my spinners with plastic quick change clevises, however, I feel that the metal clevises might spin better at slower speeds because there is less surface area of the metal touching the line ( Friction and what not) The typical quick change plastic clevise has more surface area to contact the line so logically (in my mind anyways) since the plastic has more surface area in contact with the line than the typical metal clevise this would lead me to believe that the plastic creates more friction, thus spins slower. However this is only my opinion, maybe some of the other users out there have some facts that might show otherwise- my two cents.

small blades, (0,1,2,3,4 size), metal. #5 on up, plastic.

I try and match the size of the blades with hooks and with big blades bigger hooks I use the plastic quick change clevises. With the smaller blades I go to smaller metal clevises, and smaller hooks.
go get em

Steve, what line do you use with the metal clevis? The last couple years Ive used 12lb Super Mono--the line scoring hasn't been a big problem but any lighter and it gets pretty bad for me.
The plastic ones are fine. Just don't get them wet!

tshot, yes the metal clevis spins easier at slower speeds. Walleye Stopper makes a quick change metal clevis. It snaps on and off the line easily to allow blade changes. I like these better than the plastic ones.
