i finally found a use for the front baitwell in my 2025! i keep my minows, leeches and crawlwers in my front livewell...mainly cuz gets better aeration there than in baitwell. i bought some 1/2'' foam interlocking floor mats and cut them to fit in the baitwell...presto...i have a cooler that keeps ice all day and holds several of your favorite beverages. end of the day just pull the plug and water drains out into livewell. i cut the foam to fit tight so no glueing needed, just piece of velcro on bottom to keep that piece in place(wants to float up).i also added to the lid insulation. thinking mite do the same to the rear baitwell also...for those days when more beverages are needed:bigsmile:

Great idea. I have an 01 Tyee that has a 3rd large livewell that i just use to store misc junk and have thought about trying to insulate it and make it a cooler also. Do the foam pads take on water? I would think that they would start to get pretty rank if they didn't dry out.

That is a great idea. Not only will the foam insulate, but it will cushion anything while flying around inside. Did you cut out the top part that holds bait bucket?

I never use my front livewell in my 2025, and rarely use either baitwell. I guess I have to make a trip to Home Depot to get some of these floor mats.

Thanks for the tip.

I always thought those front baitwells looked like little port-a-potties. ;)

Just teasing. Good solution to use the space!

i dont think the foam takes on any water. if ya cut them to fit nice and tight they stay put nicely but can easily be removed if wanted. i did the sides first then the bottom...that way the bottom can be removed to allow to dry, plus locks the sides in place. as i mentioned i did put cple pieces of velcro on the bottom to keep it from floating up in the middle. i also ended up removing the stand pipe...couldnt keep from leaking, replaced it with a 1 inch plug with a 'T' bolt to tighten it(a drain plug i guess). i did the top as well, even tho already insulated...simply took the latch off and cut foam to fit than used the latch nut to help secure it. i got the mats at menards...they were multi colored on one side but charcoal on the other. and yes the foam works very well as an insulator but also as a cushion.

I found the foam at Menards, it was on sale - $9 for a package, $1 per square foot. This foam is water repellent. I think I may try to fit this in my front livewell, since I never use that anyway. I can use that as a large cooler, or just storage for odds & ends.

Thanks again for the tip, eyecatcher!
