If you aren't into spending a lot of money, look at the Quantum XL 8'6". Great rod for the money. They cost about $35. and have great soft tip with plenty of backbone. I have 2 of them and haven't had any problems, and really like them.

I like the HOOKHIDER #130PB - great rod for boards, flatline and leadcore.
Will run ya about $59.00 each but for a telescoping rod with the HOOKHIDER feature I thought it was worth it.

My best trolling/board rods are Loomis GL-2 941's these rods are a [1] peice 7'-10" awesome rod, retail is about $140.00 If your looking for a great rod in the $50.00 range buy the Cabela's 8'-6" retractable [Depthmaster] it's $44.99! But only run mono from the depthmaster because they have some back bone! If you can afford the Loommis get it,it works great with both Fireline an mono. GOOD LUCK! EYE CROSSER

i don't think you can go wrong with the P&K rods by Bass Pro in the 8'6" length. They seem to work real well. I also have a 8'6" fenwick Legacy that is pretty good other than the handle is a little long. I like a rod with some pretty good back bone for pulling boards.

I use the 7'6" Wallye Angler Rods available from Bass Pro and Walleye Angler. They are telescoping rods and IM6 graphite. I bought mine as combos with the Diawa 47LC linecounter reels. I think the rods themselves are between 50 and 60 dollars, I think they're really nice for the price. Good Luck, Mille Lacs Guy.
