first impression is good. just bought mine last week and have not had time to mount the unit yet. mounts for head & antenna have to be purchased in addition to the 162. hooked up to a power supply & placing the ant. on the windowsill, iwas able togo through most all features. i like it. the only other gps i have used is my explorer hand-held. this one is much easier. imho bill

I've had mine hooked up for three weeks,[two fishing trips], and it's fantastic. Powers up and gives a fix quickly, and is accurate to within 10-15 feet. All I'm waiting for is the Garmin CD/EMAP for Canada. The world map included is not specific enough for where I fish in Manitoba, but I'm sure the EMAPS for the U.S. will do quite nicely. I zoomed in to the greatest scale and was able to return to a small 18 foot hole in the river, that last year I had to repeatedly zig zag in order to find. All in all a great unit.
